Book Meme

So when Eric and I were talking about the books that we felt should answer the following questions, I mentioned to him how small I feel my scope of literature is. But I'll take a crack at it anyway...

1. One book that changed your life. In His Steps, by Charles M. Sheldon and The Ultimate Makeover by Sharon Jaynes

2. One book that you have read more than once: I've read all of the Sackett books I can get my hands on, but most especially To the Far Blue Mountains by Louis L'Amour, also all of the Little Women Books by Louisa May Alcott.

3. One book you would want on a desert island: The Bible, not to copy everyone's answer but it is the beginning and end of everything, so what more could I want?

4. One book that made you laugh: Mr and Mrs. Twit, by Roald Dahl, I remember side-splitting laughter from everyone in my fourth grade class as our teacher struggled to read to us through the hysterics.

5. One book that made you cry: The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein and I have to say Jen is right, Rilla of Ingleside is a very sorrowful book, but like all of L.M. Montgomery's book you can't help but love it. Poor Dog Monday...

6. One book that you wish had been written: My aforementioned love of all things Sackett would lead me to say what happened to Brian Sackett? He went back to England to study law and then what? Possibly entitled "Old Land Sackett" by Louis L'Amour.

7. One book that you wish had never been written: ahhhh, hummmm, here is where my lack of literary breadth comes in...…

8. The book(s) you are currently reading: The list as it stands right now... Morning and Evening by Charles H. Spurgeon, Prince Caspian by C.S. Lewis, Abraham by Bruce Feiler, "My Sister's Keeper" by Jodi Picoult and 1 Samuel and Ephesians

9. One book you have been meaning to read: Thr3e By Ted Dekker, among others...

10. Now tag Five people: No answer. ;)

EGADS, MANDY!!! You've read the Sacketts??? I almost answered more Sackett books for what book you would have wanted written! I'm a huge Sackett/L'amour fan (as are my dad and oldest brother), but I've met few people my age who have even heard of them. I got most of our mission team in Uganda hooked on them when we ran across a dozen L'amour books at our host's home. We spent a long van ride plowing through and swapping books as we finished them.

Wow. I can't believe you're a fan, and they made the list TWICE.

Jen, My brother was the first L'amour lover in our family, he would get them for his birthdays from my Grandmother. A few years after he finished the series I was checking out what books were on our family shelves when I discovered the Sacketts...Come to find out Eric's Dad has also read them; but as you mentioned, not many in our generation seems to have fallen for L'amour. What they are missing!
