All for a Christmas Tree

Today was very exciting, and a story that will probably get passed down through generations. Something that doesn't happen everyday happened today in our front yard.

A city truck was driving through to pick up our old Christmas tree when it knocked over (busted right off !) the fire hydrant. I was standing in our yard handing over said tree to a worker as the truck's driver did the deed. An instant geyser ensued, as did a call to 911, and a few pictures for posterity.

Lessons learned from this experience:

Fire hydrants are not connected to our water bill.
Fire hydrants (strangely enough) are made to break off.
Fire hydrants, even if painted bright yellow, can go unseen and hence hit by truck drivers.

Our house is to the right of the "Hydrant Geyser"
Yah, the front yard got a little wet today.

All in all, it was an exciting day!

And all for a Christmas Tree.
