Why call this “The Weaving”? There are only a few ways in which we can describe or verbally illustrate how we allow the Lord to change us through life; weaving, in my mind, is one such way. We are a fallen creation, that has been redeemed and daily made new.
Romans 12 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God- this is your spiritual act of worship. 2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is- His good, pleasing and perfect will.
There was once a woman that I knew who would take bags of old clothes home, wash them, take out the zippers and pull off the buttons. She would then tear them into strips and separate those strips by color. Then, in her garage, she would sit down at her huge, room sized loom and start weaving those colors into a rug. I saw a rug in progress once, and I have to say it was not that exciting, but if you ever saw one of her rugs finished, you would have been amazed at the beauty she could see out of strips of old clothes.
In a way that is how I feel about what the Lord does with us; he sees every part of us, loves us, and (when we allow Him to) changes us. To be clothed in Christ,(Galatians 3:26,Romans 13:12) to be rewoven into his likeness and used for his glory is the only way to live. I have a long way to go, as does my husband, (and he’d tell you so). As God is working on the new weaving I strive to remember this...
Isaiah 62:10 I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation…
